Edinburgh Castle will be the scenic and memorable setting to launch the week long festival of rugby. Players and spectators will gather on the Castle Esplanade to celebrate the Opening ceremony on 1 September 2008.
Musselburgh Racecourse will play host to the mid week ‘Highland Fling’ on Wednesday 3 September 2008. There will be an array of food, drink and entertainment as well as whisky tasting and Highland Games.
The Grand Finale Dinner which will mark the end of what will be Scotland’s greatest Rugby Festival will be held at The Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston on Sunday 7 September 2008.
Starting at Edinburgh Castle for welcome speeches, the groups will be led by a pipe band into the spectacular ‘Spiegel Garden’ in George Square. It is here the welcome Party for the 17th Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival will take place
Murrayfield, the world class rugby stadium, is renowned for Scottish hospitality and will provide a spectacular festival backdrop.
